Hey all. Been extending and increasing the number of plans I have on the FocusMe app however I’m stumped on something.
When I try to block something with a double, triple or more barreled name the app appears not to work.
e.g. I attempted to add ‘formula 1’ into a plan. Set the keyword as being both ‘in-url’ and ‘in-page keyword’. Did the same for ‘game of thrones’. Enabled plan.
Issue: when I searched these terms using my Brave browser no blocking by focusme occurred.
Focusme successfully blocks single barrel words in the app without issue.
Thanks for taking the time to report this, and I’m sorry to hear you’re running into trouble with multi-word keywords. I can understand how frustrating that would be, especially when single-word keywords are working as expected.
We’ve made a number of improvements to website blocking since you last posted, so could you please update to the latest version (7.8.4.9) first? You can download it here: https://focusme.com/download/fast/
Also, please make sure you’ve installed our browser extension, as it provides much more reliable website blocking:
Once you’ve updated and installed the extension, please test those multi-word keywords again (such as “formula 1” and “game of thrones”) and let us know if the issue still persists. If it does, we’ll be happy to investigate it further with you.
Hello there! You’re welcome and no problem at all.
Glad to know that the FocusMe app on desktop is working as intended.
As for the Android version, do you happen to have the version from our website with Tamper protection? Also, may I know the make and model of your phone?
Thanks for clarifying, and we appreciate the additional details. We understand that you’re using an Honor X6c and downloaded FocusMe directly from Google Play.
It’s possible that the version available on your device is not the latest one. Could you please try downloading the latest Android version directly from our website here?
Just to clarify as well, the FocusMe Android app is free to use.
We hope the latest version resolves the issue. If you’re still experiencing the same problem afterward, please let us know and we’ll be happy to look into it further.
