[color=#222222][size=small][font=Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Hello! I was trying to figure out a better way to block unsafe search engines from the start. I am primarily using this for blocking adult content, as an adult. I’ve used similar tools, and they usually have a built-in filter that just blocks all unsafe search engines that cannot enforce safe search. So typically the only search engines that are allowed are Google and Bing.
I see that you have a Regex rule builder, but I was hoping I could suggest that with the app, you include a Plan that already has this built-in. Similar to the Adult Sites one.
Yeah that’s the challenge always, is the VPNs. For me, I sometimes need to use a VPN for work, but that’s just on my work MacBook, which I wouldn’t ever use to browse explicit material. Plus, it would get blocked anyway by our own solution (we use Sophos Endpoint).
I think using the keywords for adult content actually works really well on it’s own, I’m impressed!
While it is probably impossible to completely block out all bad search engines, you can do a lot to limit the damage that can occur. This can be achieved by creating a blacklist of search engines and websites that are known to be unsafe. This is often done through extensions such as Adblock Plus or similar tools. Thanks for the suggestion! Adding a built-in plan to block unsafe search engines sounds like a great idea, especially for enhanced content filtering. It would be helpful for many users. Appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for your thoughtful suggestion — and you’re absolutely on the right track. You’re not alone in wanting a simple, preconfigured plan that blocks all unsafe search engines (especially those that can’t enforce SafeSearch). Many users would benefit from a built-in filter like this, particularly when managing content safety either for themselves or for family use. Create a new plan or add a toggle option (like the “Adult Sites” plan) that: Automatically allows only search engines that support and enforce SafeSearch (e.g. Google, Bing, You.com Safe Mode).
Great suggestion! A preconfigured plan to block unsafe search engines and enforce SafeSearch would definitely make content filtering easier for many users. It’s especially useful for those managing family safety or personal boundaries. Hope the team considers this feature soon!
