The hosts file plays a key role in controlling network traffic at the system level. Blocking access to it can add an extra layer of security, especially against malware that tries to modify it for malicious redirections. Do you have any specific strategies or tools you recommend for protecting it? Best Regards, Ryan The FocusMe Support Team

Blocking access to the hosts file is crucial for maintaining system integrity and preventing malware attacks. By restricting file permissions, using Group Policy, or employing security software, you can effectively protect this critical file from unauthorized modifications.

While FocusMe doesn’t modify the hosts file, some users adjust it for extra blocking. Just keep in mind that some legit tools may need access. Appreciate your input! Ryan The FocusMe Support Team

Only the SYSTEM account can now edit it. To change it later, re-grant permissions or use an admin command prompt with caution. smash karts
