Set up the scheduling feature - OrvalHaley - 11-20-2024

I've been using FocusMe for a few weeks now, and it's been great for blocking distracting websites. However, I'm curious if anyone has tips on how to best utilize the scheduling feature to balance work and breaks effectively. How do you set up your schedules to maximize productivity without burning out?

Hi Orval!

So glad to hear FocusMe is helping you block distractions! The scheduling feature is a total game-changer if you use it right. While waiting for the other to share their tips, let me tell you how we're normally using it on our end. Smile

  1. Pomodoro for the win: Work for 25–50 minutes, then take a 5–10 minute break. After a few rounds, take a longer break. FocusMe can handle all the timing for you, so you don’t have to think about it.

  2. Work with your energy: Pay attention to when you’re naturally most focused (morning, afternoon, evening?) and schedule your deep work for those times. Save less demanding stuff for when your brain feels a bit mushy.

  3. Breaks = Magic: Seriously, don’t skip them. Even 5 minutes to stretch, grab water, or just breathe can make a huge difference.

  4. Trial and error: There’s no one-size-fits-all. Try different work/rest combos and tweak until it feels right. Some people crush it with 90-minute blocks; others prefer shorter sprints.

  5. End-of-day planning: Before you log off, spend a couple of minutes setting up your schedule for tomorrow. It’s a little thing, but it makes starting the day way easier.

At the end of the day, it’s all about finding a flow that works for you. Let me know if you find any cool tricks—I’m always looking for new ideas too!

Let us if this works!

Best,

Ryan
