Feature request: Automatic breaks after defined session time - Daniel80 - 05-23-2020

I would like there to be an option for the automatic breaks to occur after a session of a certain length.

So, for example, you can be logged into your computer for 1 hour and then there is a 5min break. Then if you log off the timer resets and starts again.

This would be useful for me to remind me to take a break from the computer to avoid eye strain and keep me moving a bit and is actually why I bought the program.

I had assumed this was how they worked originally as it is how they work on all similar programs I've used but it appears they just work counting down from when they are set in the program this means that if you leave the automatic breaks on I often log on and immediately find I'm locked out of my computer for 5 mins which is irritating!

I have had a similar question about automatic breaks.

Can admin confirm which way auto breaks work?

If Auto breaks are set as follows:  Break every: 1:00 hr  /  Break Length:  30 min
What will happen?

Is it:

Scenario 1:
I log onto computer at 9:00, and work until 10:00.  The autobreak starts.
10-10:30 - break enforced - after which point the breaks are enforced, regardless of whether I use the computer, so:
10:30-11:30 - computer is available
11:30-12 - break enforced
12 - 1:00 - computer available
1:00 - 1:30 - break enforced
etc

OR

Scenario 2:
I log onto computer at 9:00, and work until 10:00.  The autobreak starts.

10-10:30 - break enforced
At 10:45 I log onto computer again and work until 11:30. (45 min).  Nothing happens.
At 1pm I log onto computer again and work until 2pm - Auto break starts.
2-2:30 break
etc.

I think that if Auto-breaks function like Scenario 2 it would be much more beneficial - the program responding to the amount of time the user is using it, just enforcing a break after a certain amount of time is reached, but not perpetuating that break schedule any further into the day (as in Scenario 1).
Thanks for clarifying.

Hi there! Auto breaks knows when you are active on your computer, so it more likely scenario 2.
It doesn't count when you are "idle" and even resets to the original time. Smile
